Aliya Danzeisen - the departing head of the Islamic Women's Council - says there's been a slight decline in online abuse, probably due other groups being targeted instead.
She is confident in the support shown by the majority of New Zealanders but says the risk of Islamophobia in public is still assessed as high.
For more than a decade, Aliya Danzeisen has championed the rights of Muslim women.
She was in charge of government liaison in the run up to the Christchurch Mosques attacks and helped write the submission to the Royal Commission that detailed the attempts to alert the authorities to the rising threat to her community.
She joins Kathryn to talk about her super diverse community.
