The Department of Conservation's efforts to cull Auckland Island pigs are being labelled a crime against humanity.
The pesky porcines are devastating the natural environment and are the subject of a five-million-dollar erradication project by DOC.
But they're also the only completely virus and disease-free pig species, which medical researchers think could hold revolutionary remedies for humans.
