The State Highway 73 speed limit boards at the eastern approach to the West Coast town of Kumara (Kohimara). A proposal to lower much of State highway 73 speed limit from the current 100km/h to 80km/h on the route from the Coast through Arthur's Pass to Canterbury has been strongly opposed by the West Coast authorities.
