Nowroz Ali Atayee was a former interpreter for NZDF and when the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, along with hundreds of others, Nowroz was waiting in limbo to leave the country on one of New Zealand's mercy flights.
Kadambari Raghukumar spoke to him in September 2021 in this episode, and this week, we catch up with him over a year after he finally arrived in New Zealand on an evacuation flight. He was joined by his siblings Sultan Ali, Marvah and Tamanna, a month later in late 2021.
In this episode we talk to him about what it's been like settling into New Zealand, and to his sisters about the ban on women's education imposed by the Taliban.
