Episode 173 features an interview about the life and music of the late Scottish musician, Martyn Bennett, a piper, violinist, composer and producer who was influential in the evolution of modern Celtic fusion. Martyn Bennett passed away in 2005 from cancer aged 33. In Glasgow the Celtic Connections Festival continues to celebrate the music of Martyn Bennett and in 2015, on the 10th anniversary of Bennett’s passing, an orchestral recreation of his final album, Grit (released by Peter Gabriel’s Real World label) was performed. In this interview, Greg Lawson, an accomplished classical musician talks about the legacy of the remarkable Martyn Bennett.
