Air Chathams will get local council funding to fly between Paraparaumu and Auckland, but it's not yet clear how much.
This afternoon, the Kāpiti Coast District Council voted to support the airline.
Air New Zealand stopped flying the route in early April.
The council had already agreed to put $150,000 towards marketing the route.
Kāpiti Coast mayor K Gurunathan said he could not yet say how much more the council was willing to spend.
Mr Gurunathan said a decision would be made over the next few weeks.
