Police have discovered a stash of stolen medals in South Auckland.
They say officers found six medals on Thursday while searching the home of a gang member who had been arrested on unrelated charges.
Along with the medals, a large number of coins were discovered in a loft above a garage on the property.
Sergeant Mark Fleming says the medals include an OBE, an African Star and an Air Efficiency award and were all issued by King George VI.
Mr Fleming says police are making attempts to reunite the medals and coins with their rightful owners.
He says it is likely the medals and coins were used as currency to buy drugs.
