Two people are still in hospital after they were attacked by a pit bull dog in Rotorua yesterday.
A Rotorua District Council spokesperson said it was understood an eight-year-old boy climbed over the fence to get his ball and was attacked by the dog.
The boy's mother and her friend were attacked when they went to help the boy.
The spokesperson said the dog was not registered but it was microchipped and de-sexed, as required for all dogs classified as a menacing breed.
A Rotorua Hospital spokesperson said the mother and her friend were brought in with serious injuries and were in a stable condition, while the boy had been discharged.
