The University of Canterbury says it is ready to start the first major redevelopment of its engineering precinct in more than 40 years.
Over the next three years, it would spend about $145 million on revamping the engineering facilities on campus damaged in the 2011 earthquakes.
The construction project would expand and fully modernise the College of Engineering, with work scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2017 academic year.
The project would strengthen and refurbish three of the buildings which make up the precinct.
Vice-Chancellor Rod Carr said the campus redevelopment was intimately linked with one of the most exciting large-scale city-wide programmes of work in the history of New Zealand.
