Former National and ACT leader Don Brash has renewed his appeal for the convicted child molester Peter Ellis.
Ellis was found guilty of molesting children at the Christchurch Civic Creche two decades ago and sent to jail for 10 years.
He has always maintained his innocence.
Dr Brash and the author Lynley Hood have made several appeals on Ellis's behalf to the Government, which have so far failed.
This week, the two wrote another letter on Ellis' behalf to the current Minister of Justice, Amy Adams.
They said the evidence against Ellis was unsound and they wanted an independent inquiry to be held into his conviction.
