A large fire near a campground by the Northland town of Waipu is now out, says the Fire Service.
A spokesperson said they were called to the fire, near the Department of Conservation's Uretiti Beach Campsite, just before 7pm.
At its peak, the fire was 500 square metres.
It has now been put out, but a rural fire crew remains at the scene - dampening down hot spots.
