A man has died and another person is missing after a boat capsized off Otaki Beach this afternoon.

Police said a small inflatable boat overturned 150m off the Otaki River mouth about 1.40pm, prompting a multi-agency search involving the Kapiti and Manawatu coastguards.
The body of a middle-aged man was pulled from the water soon afterwards.
Police said they had suspended the search for his companion because of extremely rough conditions.
A search of the shoreline has also been unsuccessful.
The search will resume tomorrow.
