Heavy rain has caused slips, rising rivers and road closures in the North Island, and homes have been flooded in Auckland, Waikato, the Coromandel.
Dozens of people left low-lying areas in Whanganui and Rangitikei districts on Tuesday night as the areas declared states of emergency and prepared for significant flooding.
