State Highway Two north of Katikati in the western Bay of Plenty has been closed after serious crash this morning.

One person has been critically injured and two others have got moderate injuries.

The victims have all been taken to hospital.
Police said the road is likely to remain shut for several hours.
There are no detours available and there is already heavy traffic congestion in the area.
