Occupant rescued from burning house

Firefighters pulled a person from a burning house in Motueka this morning.

Crews were called to the house on Poole Street shortly before 5am.

Fire and Emergency spokesman Brent Dunne said the house was well alight when crews arrived.

He said the person found in the house was treated by ambulance officers.

The building later collapsed. Thirteen crews fought the blaze.
