The driver charged in relation to a car crash in Nelson in which a baby later died, has appeared in the Nelson District Court.
Andrew Fleming, 47, entered no plea to a charge of careless driving causing injury.
The head-on crash on Waimea Road on Monday night last week left several people injured, including an expectant mother.
Her baby was born in Nelson Hospital by an emergency caesarian delivery, and then flown to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said yesterday the baby died on Saturday.
Mr Fleming has been remanded on bail until later this month.
Police said yesterday they were continuing investigations and further charges were possible.
