A person died when the car they were driving crashed into a power pole in the Far North about four hours ago.

The crash happened just after 8pm on Friday on Far North Road, Waipapakauri, north of Kaitaia.
No-one else was in the car.
Police said the Serious Crash Unit had been advised and would be assisting with an investigation.
Far North Road was closed as a result of the crash and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
