Two people have died following a serious crash on State Highway 3 in Otorohanga.

Police were called to the incident at about 7.55 this morning, near Awatene Road.
One person was initially reported to be in a critical condition, but has now died, police have confirmed.
The road is expected to be closed for some time.
Diversions are in place, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
