A crash in the Waikato town of Te Kauwhata has left one person dead this afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Waerenga Road, near Kiwi Road, Te Kauwhata at about 3pm.
Police said the sole occupant of the car was found dead at the scene.
Traffic management is in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
In Auckland, a crash is blocking the right southbound lane and causing delays on the SH1 Northern Motorway just prior to the Esmonde Rd off-ramp. It it not known if anyone was injured in the collision, which happened about 4pm.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed the name of a child who died following a crash at the intersection of Ellesmere Road and Tancreds Road, in Lincoln on Saturday.
He was 13-year-old Jyren Estrella of Christchurch. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
