One person has been taken to hospital with burns after a house fire in Bluff this morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze just before 8am.
Fire and Emergency described the fire as "well-involved" when they arrived.
Four appliances from Bluff and Invercargill fought to bring the blaze under control.
A police spokesperson said a member of the public alerted them after hearing an explosion.
The house had been destroyed by the blaze.
A St John spokesperson said one person was taken to Southland Hospital with moderate injuries.
