Maritime officials are monitoring a launch that sank on the Coromandel Peninsula last night, to make sure no oil is leaking.

The vessel was carrying 200 litres of marine diesel oil when it apparently hit rocks in Humbug Bay near Whitianga, Waikato Regional Council said in a statement.
Swells of between three and four metres are expected this afternoon, which could push the launch onto the rocks.
Salvors are preparing to recover the vessel, depending on weather conditions.
