Some flights were delayed or cancelled at Wellington Airport as heavy fog blankets the runways.
Some could depart but most arrivals were not expected until later Tuesday morning, when the fog was due to lift, the airport said.
Dozens of arrivals and departures were delayed or cancelled according to the airport's website.
People flying out of Wellington are advised to check with their airlines or the airport's website.
On Tuesday afternoon, spokesperson, Phil Rennie said the airport had mostly resumed normal operations, but there would be some delays while the backlog was cleared.
