About 80 Palestinian supporters have been protesting outside the Israeli Embassy in central Wellington.
Traffic was disrupted when they briefly spilled onto the road in Brandon Street.
The group began to disperse of their own accord just after 1pm.
The protesters were chanting the same slogan that landed Green MP Chlöe Swarbrick in hot water on social media.
Organisers instructed them that calls of "blood on your hands" could be directed towards the US embassy as well.
An RNZ reporter at the scene said they were passionate but orderly, allowing traffic to move between two groups gathered on the pavement on either side of Brandon Street.
Two men emerging from the building were loudly booed and heckled with chants of "shame".
A person attending the protest said the crowd reacted when the men attempted to remove 'eviction notices' placed at the entrance to the building.
