Two dogs matching the description of a pair believed to be behind a series of attacks on pets are no longer on the loose.
Mount Albert residents had complained about two dogs, a tan and a brindle, wandering the neighbourhood and attacking pets.
One resident witnessed the pair attack and kill a cat.
Earlier in March, Animal Management said it received two complaints about the dogs but the problem appeared much wider based on the posts on Facebook and missing cat posters in the area.
Over the weekend officers visited an address on Linwood Ave and found two dogs matching photos and descriptions provided by witnesses.
Animal Management Manager Elly Waitoa says the investigation is ongoing and no definitive conclusions have been met but the evidence was sufficient to seize the dogs.
"We thank residents for their assistance with this investigation and extend our condolences to those who have lost beloved pets.
"We would like to remind all dog owners that they should never allow their dogs to roam beyond their property, as this greatly increases the likelihood that they will attack cats, other animals, people and wildlife."
There were 12,737 callouts for roaming dogs last in the July 2022-June 2023 period, according to the Animal Management annual report, and 1339 callouts for dog attacks on other animals.
