MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for Fiordland as a front moves across Westland on Saturday.
It advised surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions are possible between 9am and 1pm.
Most of the country is in for a warm and relatively settled weekend but this quickly changes as we enter next week

Current forecasts have:

Another period of heavy rain from Bligh Sound to Resolution Island is expected next week.
MetService has also issued a watch for parts of Otago and Southland on Monday.
Persistent and cold easterlies are expected to develop over the southern South Island, bringing heavy rain and possible heavy snow above 500 metres.
People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts as regions are likely to be upgraded and more regions added.
