One person has died following a crash in Waiomio in the Far North.
The single-vehicle crash was reported just after 1pm on Waiomio Road, near the intersection with State Highway 1 south of Kawakawa.
The sole occupant suffered critical injuries and died at the scene, despite the efforts of emergency services.
Kawkawa fire chief Wayne Martin said the vehicle rolled and went off the road.
Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to extricate the driver.
The Whangārei Fire Brigade was also called out to help but was not required.
The police Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
There are no road closures due to the crash.
