Two helicopters are tackling a vegetation blaze in a remote area of Northland.
Fire and Emergency said it broke out just after 11am in the gumfield region between Herekino and Ahipara.
There is no threat to people or buildings.
More helicopters are travelling to the scene and bulldozers and other machinery will be used.
It is expected to take several days to extinguish the fire but weather conditions are forecast to be stable.
