Hampton Downs Road has reopened after a man was found critically injured early on Monday morning.
Cordons were set up on Hampton Downs Road between the landfill and Chris Amon Drive.
The man remains in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital.
Police say they are in the early stages of determining the circumstances that led to the man being injured.
They would like to hear from anyone who was travelling in the Hampton Downs area between 10pm on Sunday and 1am on Monday, including any dashcam footage from in the area.
Police also ask anyone with information to call 105 and use the reference number 241014/2225.
Calls can also be made anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
