More than 160,000 students will be able to access their provisional results from last year's exams through the New Zealand Qualifications Authority website today.

From 21 January the assessed NCEA exam papers will also be made available.

Results for New Zealand Scholarship exams are on track to be released on 11 February.

Secondary Principals' Association president Vaughan Couillault says while you should celebrate the wins, for students who didn't get the results they wanted, there are still options.

Students will still have the chance to ask for a re-mark.

"Remember that NCEA is a qualification that you build on, so it's not all or nothing and you don't have to restart and do it all again."

Those that aren't where they hoped to be should reach out to their school and see if it offers a summer school or catch up programme over the next four to six weeks.

It was increasingly common that students take this route, he said.

Couillaut said students should keep in mind reassessments can only result in an achieved but a new piece of work can result in any grade.

Last year 45 percent of NCEA students failed to pass the critical NCEA literacy and numeracy benchmark via online tests.

Students must pass all three tests before they can receive any NCEA qualifications.
