One person has died and another is seriously injured after a crash south of New Plymouth.
Police say two vehicles - which RNZ understands were both trucks - collided on Egmont Road in Hillsborough just after 2pm.
One person died while being taken to hospital, and another has serious injuries.
The road remains closed while the Serious Crash Unit conduct a scene examination.
Meanwhile, another person has died at the scene of a crash in Putaruru this afternoon.
The two-vehicle crash happened on Whites Road/SH28 at the intersection with Harris Road, just before 5pm.
Three other people were injured - two with serious injuries and one with minor injuires.
The road remains closed while the Serious Crash Unit conduct a scene examination.
Detours are in place via State Highway 1 and State Highway 5.
