Wellington's Wētā FX has been nominated three times for their visual effects at the 97th Academy Awards.
The visual effects company has been given the nod for their work on Alien: Romulus, Better Man and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Head of VFX, Matt Aitken, said this year Wētā FX have more people nominated for the Oscar than at any other point in their history.
Wētā FX's VFX supervisor on Alien: Romulus, Daniel Macarin, said his team were "incredibly proud" of the work done in the horror film to create digitally augmented practical suits and simulations of outer space collisions and explosions.
"We worked closely with director Fede Álvarez to build on the franchise's history and bring audiences closer to the rings of a planet than ever before.
We hope this nomination inspires the next generation of VFX artists and sci-fi space film fans."
VFX supervisor for Better Man, Luke Millar, said his team were responsible for nearly all of the visual effects in the Robbie Willams' biopic and they were extremely honoured to receive the nomination for Best Visual Effects in recognition of their "insane amount of work".
"It was truly such a fantastic project to be a part of and the work is something that I will always be incredibly proud of."
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes VFX supervisor Erik Winquist, said her team were thrilled to wake up to the news of their nomination this morning.
"It is an honour getting to represent the more than a thousand artists, developers, production, and support crew who worked their magic for over a year on Kingdom.
"It's so satisfying to see our work recognised by the Academy."
The Oscars will be held in Los Angeles on 3 March.
Wētā FX received British Film Academy Awards nominations for Better Man and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes last week.
