Police are searching for those responsible after armed robbers stole items from an east Auckland shop on Friday morning.

Officers were called to the scene on Kohimarama Road at about 7.50am after reports of five people entering a store with weapons.

They stole a number of items before fleeing the scene.

Police said no one was injured.

Police found the vehicle the offenders used to leave the area abandoned, and had it towed for forensic examination.

"Police are working hard to find those responsible and are appealing to the public for any information which may assist," a police spokesperson said.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Police online at https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105 or via our 105 phone service and quote file number 250124/3721."

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

It is the second recent armed robbery in Auckland after two people who police said had weapons but not guns entered a Takapuna restaurant on Sunday night before stealing items and the fleeing.
