Recovery crews in the Northland town of Mangawhai have cleared 960kg of waste after a devastating storm last month.
Two people were taken to hospital in a serious condition, after the storm that tore roofs off of houses and knocked down power poles.
A Kaipara District Council spokesperson says a 10-person taskforce spent 125 hours over two days clearing the waste at the weekend, as part of Taskfore Kiwi, a nationwide disaster relief organisation.
They say the team was helping to clear debris and remove large amounts of green waste residents couldn't manage on their own.
Meanwhile, Fire and Emergency crews responded to 34 different callouts after the tornado.
A spokesperson said crews attended to roofs lifted from homes, fallen trees and downed powerlines.
Its last callout was at 9.30am.
They said 50 firefighters were on site, alongside nine trucks, with response crews made up of volunteer fire brigades from Kaiwaka, Mangawhai, Maungaturoto, Wellsford, Paparoa, Waipu and Warkworth, career crews from Whangārei and Papatoetoe, and an Urban Search and Rescue team with a drone.
