A man has been charged with the murder of Turipapa Tukere, who died after an altercation in Ngāruawāhia on 27 December 2024.
The 34-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning, after two search warrants in Hamilton were carried with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad, and a search warrant in Tauranga.
He is scheduled to appear in Hamilton District Court today, Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Saunders said.
"We would like to thank the Ngāruawāhia community for their support during the investigation into Turipapa's death," Saunders said.
"The investigation is ongoing and we are not ruling out further arrests."
