Police ask for help identifying man found dead on highway near Queenstown

Police want to speak to anyone who saw a man found dead after being hit by a car on a highway near Queenstown.

Emergency services found the man near Kawerau Bridge Historic Reserve on State Highway 6, at about 10pm Monday.

Police said officers are working to formally identify him.

They want to hear from anyone who saw a man wearing black pants and a black shirt, walking on the road at that time, or anyone who has dashcam footage.

"We'd also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man wearing black pants and a black shirt, walking on SH6 near the area before 10pm, or anyone who has captured dashcam footage from the incident or surrounding times," police said.
