Police are investigating a shooting at a tavern north of Wairoa over the weekend.
Officers were called to Frasertown Tavern shortly after 11pm on Saturday, after reports that shots had been fired towards the building.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Moorhouse said possibly three shots were fired, and had hit the tavern and a vehicle in the carpark.
Several people were inside the building at the time. No one has been injured.
Police are invetigating whether there are gang links to the shooting.
The are seeking information from anyone in the area at the time, and are interested in any sightings of a white hatchback vehicle in Frasertown.
