A man was found critically injured on a footpath at the intersection of Camperdown Rd and Totora Rd at about 2.20am on Monday.
He died in Wellington Hospital yesterday morning.
It was the second serious incident, following the burglary of a Darlington Rd address 20 minutes earlier, where two adults found a stranger in their home.
After being confronted and fighting with one of the residents, the intruder fled.
Police investigating the burglary then found the injured and unconscious man a short distance from his vehicle.
Parallel investigations are under way into both incidents and police are still working to determine if there is any link between the two.
Miramar community member Ryan Street told RNZ with the latest events that had occurred in the area residents had been "concerned about safety".
Street claimed there had been an increased amount of crime in Miramar in recent years, which included house burglaries and car theft.
He wanted to bring agencies such as the police and Wellington City Council together for a meeting with residents to provide support to them.
"It's basically just bringing a few community leaders together that will give some reassurance to our community that we are on the right track and you know there's people out there looking after each other."
Street said he hoped the meeting would take place early next week and that he was in talks with potential venue options in the area.
