Gisborne police believe shots fired at a house in Ranfurly Street on Saturday morning is the latest in a series of gang-related conflict.

Officers were called to Ranfurly Street at around 6.30am after reports of a gunshot.

Police say it was incredibly fortunate no one inside the home was injured.

Detectives are also investigating incidents in Kaiti and Mangapapa last week that are also being linked to gangs.

Locals are being told told to expect a highly-visible police presence in the Gisborne area as officers work with gang leaders to de-escalate the conflict.
