A person has died following a crash between a train and vehicle in Auckland's Penrose.
The crash happened at a level crossing near the intersection of Station Road at about 2pm Friday.
Police said the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
No one on the train was injured.
In a statement, Auckland Transport said the barriers were down at the time the vehicle crossed.

"Just after 2pm this afternoon a car travelled through a level crossing and was hit by an Auckland Transport train on the Onehunga Line," said Stacey van der Putten, AT's director of public transport and active modes.
"The barriers at the Maurice Road level crossing were down at the time and appeared to be functioning properly.
"Incidents like this are horrific for everyone involved and our thoughts go out to the people and their families impacted by this."
A police investigation is underway.
A witness working nearby said they heard a loud bang then saw the train drag the car along the tracks.
A section of Maurice Road, between Station Road and Church Street, was closed. Station Road remained open, but drivers should expect delays in the area, police said.
Services on the Onehunga Line are currently suspended.
Auckland Transport said the train would be taken back to its depot and will undergo an assessment. It will be out of commission in the meantime.
It said services on the Onehunga Line are likely to remain suspended for the remainder of the day. The Route 74 bus is continuing to stop at Onehunga, Te Papapa and Penrose train stations for affected customers.
People should use the AT Mobile app or journey planner on the AT website to find out which bus services they can use.
