A police operation is under way in Napier following what they describe as a serious incident.
Police were called to an Alexander Avenue address in the suburb of Onekawa about 3.10am.
Little detail had been revealed but police said a scene examination was under way.
Cordons were in place at the intersections of Hitchings Avenue and Alexander Avenue, Dinwiddie Avenue and Wallis Place, and Alexander Avenue, near Dinwiddie Avenue.
They are expected to be in place throughout today.
