A person has been taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition after a house fire in Papakura on Sunday afternoon.
Fire and Emergency were called to the Auckland suburb after multiple 111 calls at 1:02pm to the 150 square metre blaze, which involved two attached housing units.
At its peak five fire trucks, one ladder truck and one command unit were in attendance.
It has now been extinguished, with fire crews dampening down hot spots.
St John told RNZ two people had been taken to hospital, one in a serious condition and another moderate.
Three fire trucks, a support vehicle and a fire investigator were still at the scene.
