One dead after crash involving truck and cars in Canterbury's Templeton

A person has died after truck and two cars crashed in Canterbury on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Dawson Road and Newton Road in Templeton around 2.45pm

The victim died at the scene.

St John said one person was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a moderate condition.

The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination and Newtons road is due to reopen shortly.

Police said that while investigations are ongoing, they urged motorists to take care on the roads.

"Drive sober, remove distractions, wear your seatbelt, and stick to the speed limit to ensure you get to your destination safely."
