The police are investigating the unexplained death of a person in the Wellington suburb of Newtown.
Emergency services were called to a Newtown address around 7.15pm on Saturday night.
"At this stage, the circumstances around the death are being treated as unexplained and police are making enquiries into the matter," the police said.
A scene guard was in place at the address overnight and a scene examination is due to take place on Sunday.
"Members of the public may see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are ongoing," the police said.
