An Auckland high school put itself into lockdown because of an "altercation" between families on the grounds.
Aorere College in South Auckland said two family groups from the school came onto the grounds on Monday afternoon and the altercation happened.
An initial post on its Facebook page let families know the school was in lockdown.
"We have Police on school site and the situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm."
It said the students were safe and told parents not to contact or come to the school.
It later posted its update about the incident with the families, saying the lockdown was precautionary and over.
However, students were told to leave out of one particular gate.
A police spokesperson say they attended because of reports of disorder between a group of people.
They say no one was injured and no complaints have been made.
The matter was being handled by the school, the spokesperson said.
