Two men arrested after stealing $210,000 from cash-in-transit vehicle

Two men have been arrested after stealing $210,000 from a cash-in-transit vehicle at Auckland's Sylvia Park mall.

The money had been taken when a firearm was presented at security guards on 9 April.

The 50-year-old Tuakau man, and 28-year-old Paerata man, were arrested on Thursday after three search warrants, with assistance from the Armed Offenders Squad, were executed at properties in rural south Auckland.

Both had been charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery with a firearm
  • Conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery with a firearm
  • Arson
  • Burglary
  • Unlawfully taking a motor vehicle
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Aggravated assault
  • 7x theft ex-car (under $500)
  • Theft ex-car (over $1000)

The men will appear in the Auckland District Court on Thursday.
