The bodies of two people who died in a house fire in Auckland have been removed from the scene, and are yet to be identified.

Video footage had shown the house on Bucklands Beach's Murvale Drive in flames in the early hours of Thursday.

Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Va'aelua said the two deceased were removed from the house last night, and post-mortem examinations were underway.

"We expect formal identification procedures to get underway in due course," he said.

Of the three other people injured, one remains in hospital, and another who's been discharged is also still recovering from their burns.

Va'aelua said the cause of the fire hasn't been determined, and they are working with fire investigators.
