A person has been arrested and a homicide investigation launched following the death of a man in New Lynn in Auckland on Monday.
Police were called to an address on Kaponga Crescent shortly before midday.
Despite the best efforts from first responders, the man died at the scene, police said.
Acting Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Waitematā CIB, said one person was taken into custody at the scene and it appeared to be an "isolated incident".
"As such, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter."

He said a scene examination was underway and the community can expect an increased police presence in the area while further enquiries are carried out.
Police said they will provide further details around the identity of the victim when they are in a position to do so.
Earlier today, an RNZ reporter at the scene said that police had blocked the entrance to the street and 14 police cars, an ambulance and fire vehicle were in attendance.
The reporter on the scene said the forensics team was onsite with a tent.
A young, crying woman was seen coming from a property near where police were focusing their attention.
Hato Hone St John said it was notified of an incident on Kaponga Crescent about 11:50am.
St John said two rapid response units, one ambulance, and one operations manager attended.
Kāinga Ora told RNZ it didn't own any properties on the street.
