Two people, including a child, have died after a house fire in Canterbury.
Emergency services were called to the property in Rakaia, south of Christchurch, late on Saturday night, to find an adult deceased and a child in critical condition.
The child, who RNZ understands was aged two, died in hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the fire is not believed to be suspicious and the deaths would be referred to the coroner.
