The total number of measles cases nationwide remains at 17, with no new cases on Tuesday.

Health New Zealand said 12 of those cases are no longer infectious.

On Monday, one measles case was detected in Auckland, which was linked to a previous overseas-acquired case.

Cases are currently known in Northland, Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, and Nelson.

Since October, Health NZ has given around 10,000 doses of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine.

Pacific health experts also warned families to get vaccinated as New Zealand's measles outbreak spreads across the country.

Locations of interest include Westfield St Luke's, Auckland City Hospital emergency department, bus routes in Feilding and Wellington, and a supermarket in Taranaki.
