The main road in the Canterbury town of Rakaia has reopened following a crash.

There were delays on SH1 between the intersection with Dunford Street and the Rakaia River Bridge until 8.30am Sunday.

Police were called to the two-vehicle crash around 7.20am between Bridge Street and North Rakaia Road.

There were no injuries, although one person was taken to hospital for assessment.
